How Might We Co-Create with Cruise Lines

Cruise lines sell different types of adventures to different types of people. Some people like one things, others another. What if we collaborated with cruise lines to develop unique travel adventures and excursions that compliment or align with the issues we face on Lesvos?

For instance, there are many people who are environmentally conscious and committed to help protect the ocean. Can we create an excursion for people... more »

Feedback Mechanisms trending idea

As an author, I try to share information that gets my reader thinking. Often, they have questions or comments about the material.

How might we provide a feedback mechanism from the reader to authors(s)? How might we use this to facilitate a conversation that creates an inspired reader that takes action?

I have used hashtags on social media, and relied on social monitoring to become alerted to the questions. I have provided... more »

Working From Home - A Dream for Some, A Nightmare for Others

While some of us dream of being able to work from home in our pajamas, away from the prying eyes of our bosses, and the endlessly distracting office gossip; there are people out there that find working from home to be dreadful & difficult to do. I have a few friends that while their work is all done remotely, they always get dressed and head out to a new location to work from because home is either too distracting, or... more »

Healing Lesvos 2020

How to find current info about Lesvos and its population.

My two colleagues and I, students at TU Delft, are working on an analysis of Lesbos Island and more precisely the refugee crisis that overwhelms locals, disturbs the island economy and put asylum seekers in inhumane conditions. From where we stand the situation seams not to benefit to anyone. The aim of the course we are following is to pick a location that face environmental, economical or social problems, to analyse... more »

How do I find higher-quality clients?

I do video work. Most of my clients have been gained via word-of-mouth. While the experiences are positive, they are low-paying and I am doing all of the work. I want to get higher-paying clients that pay to cover a full film crew and allows me to purchase new equipment as needed. I just don't know where to go about finding them.

Commission Army - Navy vessels for Immigrants & Refugees

What about commissioning vacant and unused Army/ Navy vessels, or even vacant properties across the globe to accommodate people until proper resettlement solutions are found in view of international obligations, while we allow the islanders to get back to rebuilding their livelihoods so we can help those who can't?
Who is brave and 'mature' enough to put a stop to the absurdity of building more detention processing centres,... more »

How Might We Sponsor an Olive Farm

Lesvos has over eleven million olive trees. Olive groves and family-owned farms symbolize much about the island: its connection to land and community. Plus, Lesvos olive oil is delicious and should a delicacy throughout the world.

Sponsoring a family farm could be a gift or a life-long commitment allowing people to get to understand the island, and feel part of what's happening there (including its environmental and... more »

How might we support working families during the lockdown?

Many families have two working parents and young kids at home with no daycare. It definitely puts a strain on work and relationships at home. Any ideas for how to manage scheduling between parents and keeping the young kids occupied?

Marine litters on shoreline: citizen science on monitoring beach

Plastics pose a considerable threat to the livelihood of the aquatic species and ecosystems as they can transport bio-accumulative harmful pollutants over long time intervals. Toxic smaller sized ocean plastics can be easily mistaken for food and hence can be transferred across aquatic vertebrates and invertebrates. As for the larger sized pieces like ghost nets, these have been found to be responsible for large amounts... more »

How to get newly remote teams to settle into new workflows?

With COVID-19 pandemic forcing teams who are used to "line of sight" and meeting room based communication styles to work remotely, how do we change our workflows/communication to better facilitate this new reality? It has to be done quickly and should use methods that will help us in the post pandemic environment as well.
